Center for Global Studies will be hosting PhD. Kim Beng Phar for a presentation on the rise of East Asia and Turkish Foreign Policy. The event will take place on December 26, at 02:00 in Secretariat Hall.

Kim Beng PHAR, graduated from international Islamic University (IIU), Malaysia. He took his MA degree in International Peace Studies at University of Notre Dame, and was supervised by Professor Fred Dalmayr in the field of Confucian and Islamic political theories. He moved to University of Cambridge for his MPhil in International Relations, specializing in East Asian diplomacy and ASEAN track two diplomacy; the latter being a field of studies which he pioneered in 1996 due to his careful observations of the role of semi governmental think tanks in the region. His Ph.D. from University of Helsinki, with a focus on the flexible institutional design of ASEAN, and the manner by which peace and stability have been achieved in Southeast Asia. Currently, Phar is the Senior Consultant to the Albukhary Foundation in Kuala Lumpur, while concurrently the president/chairman of Echo Strategic Insight, a firm focused on training more Asian Pacific students into getting into leading universities in US, UK, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Korea.
