* Dr. Hans Köchler is University Professor and holds the Chair of Political Philosophy and Philosophical Anthropology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. He is the founder and President of the International Progress Organization (I.P.O.), an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations, a member of the International Coordinating Committee of the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations” (Moscow/Vienna), and a member of the International Advisory Council of the International Movement for a Just World (JUST), Malaysia. Köchler is the author or editor of numerous articles and books on issues of political and legal philosophy, including “Democracy and the International Rule of Law”; “Global Justice or Global Revenge? International Criminal Justice at the Crossroads”; “The ‘Global War on Terror’ and the Question of World Order”; and “World Order: Vision and Reality”. He serves as editor of the series Studies in International Relations and member of the Editorial Board of several journals, including Culture and Dialogueand the Indian Journal of Politics. In 2000, he was nominated by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan as international observer at the Scottish Court in the Netherlands (“Lockerbie Trial”). Köchler is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, including the Gusi Peace Prize (Philippines) and the Honorary Medal of the International Peace Bureau (Geneva). He holds an honorary doctor degree from Mindanao State University (Philippines) and an honorary professorship title from Pamukkale University (Turkey).
